Apostolic Federation of Mothers of Chile

We are a community of married, widowed, or separated women who, in the spirit of Schoenstatt, in close union with the hierarchy of the Church and in the spirit of the evangelical counsels, aspire to the religious and moral renewal of the world in Christ.

Our history begins on September 2, 1981, but it began to be written in 1971

The first course, formed by fifteen mothers, met for the first time on September 2, 1981, in the Shrine of Bellavista. Our history begins there, in that first meeting. However, there was also a prehistory when in 1971 a group of mothers in the Cenacle of Foundation Shrine of Viña del Mar sealed their perpetual consecration within the Mothers’ Federation of Germany, forming part of a course from that country. These mothers had a great desire, even offering their lives so that the Mothers’ Federation would be formed in Chile, this happened 10 years later, in 1981.

Three regions and 19 courses

The next milestone in our history was the approval of our autonomy by the General Presidium of the Schoenstatt Family on January 28, 2003. At that date, our Federation already had three different regions; two in the Metropolitan Region and a third one in Viña del Mar.

Currently, there are courses in the cities of Santiago, Viña del Mar, Concepcion, and Temuco. Thus, at the national level, in the year 2023, there are 19 mothers’ courses, of which 16 have already sealed their Perpetual Consecration. Currently, the 20th course is open with two postulants accepted. In total, the community is made up of 134 mothers.

“Mary, Soul of the Cenacle for the Pentecost of the Father” is our ideal, it mobilizes and unites us, it encourages and challenges us.
