Apostolic Federation of Schoenstatt Mothers In Brazil

God, in his infinite goodness, looked at Brazil Tabor and gifted it with our community. He thought of us and used an instrument, Sister M. Inácia Beth, who, in 1992, invited a group of mothers from various cities in the states of São Paulo and Paraná, members of the Mothers’ League, to take part in a meeting to introduce the Apostolic Federation of Schoenstatt Mothers.

November 28, 1992 at the Tabor Shrine

This first meeting, which took place on November 28, 1992, in the Tabor Shrine of the Permanent Presence of the Father, in Atibaia, São Paulo, with the initial presence of six mothers, culminated in the founding of the Mothers’ Federation in Brazil. According to the words of Sister M. Inácia “… Father planned that today, November 28, at the beginning of Advent of the Jubilee Year of the Centennial of Sr. Emilie’s birth; the 50th anniversary of the Home Song and the 25th anniversary of Father Kentenich’s return to the Father’s house – we would meet for these first steps. For the development of the Mothers’ Federation in our homeland” (Chronicle of the 1st Course of the Apostolic Federation of Schoenstatt Mothers in Brazil – 1992 to 2002).

The pioneering group was joined by other mothers and formed the foundation of the Mothers’ Federation in Brazil, thus giving birth to our first course.

Committed to the mission, in search of solidity, the aspiration to the heights, and the ideal that God had in mind for each one, our first sisters longed to conquer the virtues of Mary and awakened in other mothers a vocation to the community.

As time went by, in the strength of the Covenant of Love, new vocations emerged and other courses were formed. We grew in breadth and depth.

February 9, 2021, Territorial Founding Chapter

On February 9, 2021, our Territorial Founding Chapter was held, the purpose of which was to formalize the founding of the Apostolic Federation of Schoenstatt Mothers in Brazil.

On March 31, 2021, the General Presidium of the International Schoenstatt Work approved our constitution as an autonomous community.

In 2023, 12 courses make up our community. There are seven courses with perpetual consecration. The other courses are in formation, two with Second Consecration, and three with Course Consecration.

We, the Apostolic Federation of Schoenstatt Mothers In Brazil

We know that our ‘yes’ is a response to the request of Father Kentenich, our Founder, who always prayed and asked the Blessed Mother to choose and send him the instruments.

As mothers of the Apostolic Federation, we have the noble and apostolic task of announcing the supernatural reality in a convincing way, and of offering all our sacrifices, prayers, and work as “contributions to the Capital of Grace” for Schoenstatt’s goals.

We, the Apostolic Federation of Schoenstatt Mothers in Brazil, feel encouraged by our Father and Founder and see in the person and mission of Mary, Mother of God, our ideal and goal, to which we aspire. In the Covenant of Love with her, we walk our path, aware that we have been called and sent, in our families, in the Church, and in society, to be reflections of Mary in our time.

“MTA, whoever sees me, should see you!”
